Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What should I be looking for if an executive functioning disorder is suspected?

A: If you have challenges with planning and organizing, multitasking, managing time, problem-solving, controlling behaviors and emotions, analyzing and processing information, concentrating, controlling mental focus, self-motivation and or inhibition, you may have a deficit in executive functioning. All executive functioning skills develop over the life span but if you find your struggles effect your daily living, especially if you have been diagnosed with a learning disability, coaching and/or tutoring may help.

Q: What is the difference between EF coaching and EF tutoring?

A: EF Tutoring: The focus is on building skills in specific content areas that will help with immediate need to keep up with schoolwork. This is done with executive functioning in mind. For example, in a session we may organize and prioritize homework, including planning for long-term projects, brainstorming ideas to help initiate projects and make sure work is completed and turned in on time. Sessions are 30 minutes to an hour long (one hour minimum per week).

EF Coaching: The focus is on building transition skills in an academic or non-academic setting. This is for students who understand content material but may have a tough time initiating, planning and prioritizing or completing work. Coaching sessions typically last 15-30 minutes (one hour minimum per week) and may consist of anything from daily/weekly planning of school schedule to transitioning to a new job. EF tutoring and coaching can be combined. All packages are designed to fit the needs of the individual.

Q: What is EF Advocacy?

A: When a child has EF challenges, it is important for parents to understand how it impacts the family. Parents may need training on how best to implement new strategies in the home and classroom and how to prepare for an IEP meeting. With proper notice, I will attend virtual IEP meetings, school planning meetings and be a part of the school/home communication team. The goal is always to implement strategies that work best for each individual.

Q: What are your rates?

A: For any combination of coaching or tutoring, rates are based on $60 per hour. One hour minimum. The initial 15-minute meeting is complementary. During that meeting we will discuss the needs of your child. If you feel my coaching/tutoring style is a fit, we will then schedule an hour long meeting where we will discuss specific needs of your child, initial strategies the family can use and an individualized plan going forward.

Q: Where are sessions held?

A: Sessions are 100% online via Zoom/telephone/text. I work with individuals in all US time zones.
